Yup it is time for that rare LJ post from me. I have to say that 2008 was a pretty good year. Like all years there were ups and downs but I am starting 2009 in a really great place. So here is a little recap and I'm sure I am leaving stuff out.

1.2008 started off with a great night at Death Guild. Dancing and drinking with my loved ones was awesome. And the next day my hang over was cured with bacon and friends at Marisa & Luke's house.

2. I gave myself a birthday party in February which was catered with amazing food from my friend Rebecca. So many friends came over to my house, the house I fall in love with more and more each day.

3. Another highlight of February was decided over the dinner table at Heather and Ted's house - that after a 7 year absence I would return to Burning Man. It was Thunderdome's 10th year on the playa and I was going to be there.

4. A big chunk of the next few months was prep and planning for Burning Man. I had to buy everything and being the project manager I am I had to over plan and over pack!

5. The spring also brought me 2 new friendships that were unexpected. These 2 have since become part of my inner circle and I am so glad to have them in my life. I have also grown closer with my parents and my brother which has been a great stabilizing force in my life.

6. 4th of July was my second annual BBQ for the holiday. This year included drunk croquet which was a blast! (yes it will return in 2009)

7. After what seemed like forever August arrived. I showed off my packing skills and filled my dad's cargo van with 4 people's stuff and Marisa, Luke, Shannon and I left for 2 week on the playa. It was an amazing 2 weeks. I meet new people, became closer with some I had known for years and learned how to drink everyday and not get hung over (thank you Sam). After almost 2 weeks of fun my girls and I walked out to a burn barrel where after a few words and some singing from Marisa, my wedding dress was torn off me and tossed into the fire. It was an amazing moment and the symbolism I needed to move forward.

8. I came back from Burning Man and after 4 showers and a steak dinner I was ready to face the rest of the year. I had to end a relationship that meant to much to me but I knew it was time to let go. It was a painful choice and I hurt someone I truly loved. I am thankful we have been able to stay friends.

9. Another big change came when I decided after 13 years of hosting Thanksgiving I would skip this year. It was a hard choice because I didn't want to let down all my friends who had spent so many years eating turkey and all the fixings with me. But this year was about taking care of me and the past 2 years had been such a drain on me to host I knew I needed to take a break. Because my friends rock everyone understood. So with a ton of stuffing I arrived at Heather and Ted's house to spend a stress free holiday with good friends.

10. November 6th was another big change - I was laid off from a job I loved. It wasn't personal, it is just what happens in business. I knew it was coming so I had been preparing for it. I have been able to take 2 months off which has been really good for me. I have learned to be comfortable and happy spending much of my time alone. I no longer have panic attacks after being alone for more than a few hours. It is an amazing feeling.

11. And finally I added a new member to my family. An adorable little black kitten named Ophelia. She has brought a ton of joy to me and Satine.

12. I forgot 2 things; Over Memorial Day weekend I went to the Hovel and saw what happens when you explode a 10 gallon propane take on a big fire - awesome!. I also went on my first fishing trip - thanks DTK!

As the year ends I wonder what 2009 will bring. It looks like I will be working at Apple for part of the year and then I will be off to Burning Man again in August. That is all I have planned other than DJing which will continue to be the thing that keeps me sane.

I hope everyone has a happy and fun New Years!

Help support my summer vacation

Hi-

So as most of you know I am going to spend my summer vacation this year in the Nevada desert. For 13 days I will be attending Burning Man and participating in one of the largest and oldest theme camps, Death Guild Thunderdome.

As much fun as we have every year with Thunderdome, it costs a lot of money to bring it to Burning Man. In addition to sweat labor, there are all kinds of costs, including fuel, transportation, more fuel and all kinds of other things. So once a year we have a huge fund-raiser to earn money for our camp. This Saturday we bring the dome to the city of San Francisco. It is the one time of year you can see the dome and some of our talented friends and family perform and recreate what we do every year at Burning Man.

Even if you can't attend the fund-raiser this Saturday night you can still buy an advance ticket. The $15 we are charging will help with all of our costs which have gone up significantly this year since two of our top three expenses involves fuel.

Please visit http://www.deathguildthunderdome.com/
for more info and to donate to our camp.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!

-mollie

Today would have been my 6 year wedding anniversary. Last year I ran away to my parents house to be taken care of, taken shopping and for the first time in my life I got drunk in front of my parents.

But a year later it is different. Today was like any other Monday. I went to work, I laughed, I solved problems, I got stuff done. Tonight I will be DJing at Death Guild, something I love to do.

My path of recovery is ongoing but this is a huge milestone and I am quite proud of myself!

I will also have lots of drink tickets.

I hope you can come out!

-m

Halloween Costume Ideas - HELP

HELP! I need to come up with 2 Halloween costumes. I'm terrible at coming up with ideas so I thought maybe someone out there would have a good idea I could work with. One thing to keep in mind is that I will be working at both events I need costumes for so no elaborate masks (need to be able to see my CDs and the DJ equipment).

Thank you in advance for your ideas

Stupid cramps! Every month I go through this pain. And it always gets in the way of something. Tonight I was planing on going to the Combichrist show at DNA with a stop in to Drunk Monkey at Cat's. But instead I'm stomping around the house saying "OUCH OUCH" and taking lots of pain meds which make driving a bit difficult. So instead of friends and stompy fun I will be in pain. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Hi-
I'm not sure why I've decided to write today.

Maybe it is because I had such a blast DJing 7 out of 10 nights in the past couple of weeks. I saw so many friends, meet a lot of regulars who I had not really talked to before and danced my ass off.

Maybe it is because I'm going to LA this weekend for my brothers high school graduation. LA is both wonderful and horrible for me so I'm always exceited and nervous before going there. I'm going to a club Saturday night where I'm suppose to see an old friend of mine. I'm really looking forward to that.

Or maybe it is because I really don't want to work today and I'm doing everything I can to avoid my job.

I need a drink tonight!

Speaking of tonight...I will be DJing at Cat's for "Won't Die" from 11-12:30. Then Georgia and I will head over to John's house. I want this Halloween to be good because last year sucked! Tomorrow night I will be at DNA for "Castle Spectacular" in a fab costume provided to me by the wonderful Miss G.

I hope I see some of you this weekend!

Hi-
I'm back from Berlin! Germany was much fun. I did tons of shopping. Got new New Rocks (they make me very tall), lots of CD's (which will be played at DG over the next few weeks) and new cloths. But I'm glad to be home. I missed my friends.

I tired so hard to make it out to DG monday night but the pillow won the battle and I missed VNV Nation. I'm waiting for Ed to call me back and give me the scoop. Now I'm trying to get all caught up on TV. Vaugn's new wife on Alias is a bitch! West Wing is so good. and the Lyon's Den is OK but I wish Rob Lowe was still on West Wing.

In other news I will be on LIVE 105 Friday night from 10-12 as a goth expert. I don't know how much I will be talking or how many songs I will get to pick but it will be 2 hours of goth music so if your not out parting tune in.

So I'm on my way to Germany, sitting in the Virgin Upperclass lounge listing to Ascii Disko. I feel like a rock star. And with my hair I guess I look like one too. Everyone else in here looks like boring business types.

I'm going to try to update this every couple of days. I forgot everyone's addresses so if you want a postcard you'll have to e-mail me your snail address.

OK back to sipping cocktails.
